Frank confident Toney will be a Brentford player after deadline day

Thomas Frank remains confident that Ivan Toney will remain a Brentford player when the transfer window shuts next month.

Toney, who has scored 72 goals in 141 appearances for the Bees, has been linked with a move away from the club as he enters the final year of his contract.

The England international has made it clear that he wants to play for one of the top clubs in the Premier League, but a move thus far has failed to materialise.

Toney was linked with a move to Tottenham, who have since signed Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, while Arsenal have also registered their interest.

But Frank, who is preparing for his sixth season in charge of Brentford, expects to have the club s all-time top scorer within his ranks for the 2024-25 campaign.

Sassuolo 1-3 Juventus: Ronaldo and Dybala reach centuries in crucial win

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th goal for Juventus to help Andrea Pirlo s side beat Sassuolo 3-1 and keep their hopes of a top-four Serie A finish alive.

It was a night of heroic Juventus veterans at Mapei Stadium, where Gianluigi Buffon saved a first-half Domenico Berardi penalty before Adrien Rabiot scored to give the visitors the lead.

Ronaldo clinched his century just before the interval, becoming the first Juve player to score 100 goals in his first three seasons at the club, and Paulo Dybala matched his feat by netting his 100th for the side in the 66th minute.

The result was vital after Juve s 3-0 defeat at home to Milan, with Napoli one point ahead of them in the table in the coveted fourth Champions League qualifying spot with two games left to pla…

Journeyman Aleksandar Prijovic Ready to Put Rocky Road Behind as Stride to Prominence Continues

At the ripe age of 27, Serbia international striker Aleksandar Prijovic is by no means a new name fighting its way to glory.

This late bloomer, however, is currently enjoying a highly successful campaign at both club and international level which is likely to be capped by a lucrative January deal and a starting place for Serbia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup as a cherry on top of it all.

Long Journey to Glory

Aleksandar Prijovic started his professional career back in 2006.

His two-year stint with former Italian powerhouse Parma saw the Serbian striker play a single league game before he got transferred to Derby County in 2008. Not a single league match (and two loan deals) later, Prijovic landed in Sion in 2010.

Having once again been forced to fight his w…

Chelsea 3-0 Luton: Talking points as Sterling and Jackson get first Blues victory of new season

Chelsea have booked their first victory of the 2023/24 Premier League season by demolishing newly promoted Luton Town at Stamford Bridge. Raheem Sterling bagged a brace (17 , 68 ), before Nicolas Jackson opened his Chelsea account to set the final score (75 ).

Sterling reborn

It was a fantastic game for Sterling. The England international was a threat for the visitors throughout. Apart from the two goals he scored, it was his deflected cross from the right that found Jackson in a great position to tap the third in.

The 28-year-old joined Chelsea last summer from Manchester City, having lost all guarantees of a starting spot for the reigning champions of England and Europe. His maiden season at Stamford Bridge was one that he won t want to remember for very long, given …

PSG complete Sanches signing

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of midfielder from Renato Sanches from Ligue 1 rivals Lille for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder has been reunited with new PSG coach Christophe Galtier, signing a five-year contract with the French champions.

Sanches had been linked with Serie A champions Milan, but PSG emerged as the favourites to land the 24-year-old.

The Portugal international won the 2020-21 Ligue 1 title playing under Galtier at Lille, where he arrived from Bayern Munich in 2019.

Sanches told PSG s official website: I m really happy to have arrived here in Paris. These last few days have been really important for me and for my family.

Guardiola: ´Exceptional´ Kane one of best strikers I´ve ever seen

Pep Guardiola says his admiration for Harry Kane has not dwindled since missing out on the Tottenham star, who he considers one of the greatest strikers he has ever seen.

Manchester City fell short in their pursuit of the England international ahead of the 2021-22 campaign, with Tottenham standing firm on their huge valuation at the time.

The reigning English champions instead turned to Erling Haaland a year later and the 22-year-old is currently the most prolific striker in world football.

While pleased with the impact Haaland has made since arriving from Borussia Dortmund, Guardiola still remains a fan of Kane.

We are extremely happy with Erling and, of course, I think Tottenham are extremely happy with Harry Kane, Guardiola said.

Brighton seal deadline day deal for Chelsea´s Gilmour

Brighton and Hove Albion have signed Billy Gilmour from Chelsea for a fee reported to be in the region of £7million, rising to £10m with add-ons.

Scotland international Gilmour was seen as one of Chelsea s brightest prospects when he broke through in the 2019-20 season under Frank Lampard.

Yet Gilmour struggled to build on that impressive early form and was loaned out to Norwich City last term. He made 24 Premier League appearances as the Canaries were relegated to the Championship.

The 21-year-old midfielder was considered surplus to requirements by Thomas Tuchel on his return to Stamford Bridge, and has now made a permanent switch to Brighton.

Happy Gilmour.

BREAKING NEWS: Busquets signs new Barcelona contract

Barcelona s Sergio Busquets has signed a new contract that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2023, with the club placing a €500million release clause on the midfielder.

The Spain international, 30, has been one of the club s most consistent performers over the last 10 years and his previous deal was due to expire in 2021.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu gave clear indications that Busquets was in line for a new deal on fresh terms and the increase in his release clause makes it likely that he will end his playing career at the club.

Since making his first-team debut in 2008, Busquets has helped Barca to seven LaLiga titles, six Copa del Rey triumphs and three Champions League trophies.

Busquets, a Catalonia native, was also part of the Spain tea…

Barcelona confirm midfield blow as Bernal suffers ACL injury

Barcelona have confirmed that 17-year-old midfielder Marc Bernal will miss most of the season after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament on Tuesday.

Bernal, who made his Barca debut in their win over Valencia on the opening day, sustained the injury in the closing stages of their 2-1 victory against Rayo Vallecano.

The midfielder had featured in all three of Hansi Flick s three league games in charge and had settled in well to his midfield having starred during pre-season.

It s a sad victory because Marc Bernal is injured, Flick told reporters after the victory at the Estadio de Vallecas.

We win, it s OK, but when you see the dressing room nobody is happy.

It s not good. He made a fantastic match 17-years-old, such a performance. It h…
