Diego Forlan offered to Real Madrid
Diego Forlan has reportedly been made available for sale by Atletico Madrid and he has been offered to none other than Real Madrid.
Atletico are prepared to sell the Uruguayan in January for €18 million, which is exactly the half of his release clause.
Los Rojiblancos have also offered Forlan to Real Madrid through an authorized intermediary, and this will alert Juventus and Tottenham, who are also keen.
Coach Quique Sanchez Flores doesn’t hold Forlan in such high regard, especially after the Uruguayan failed to find the net in last 13 games, and with Brazilian Diego Costa in such a good form, he seems to have made his mind about selling the World Cup star.
Forlan has not been himself after returning from t…
According to , Manchester City are considering a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto. The Portugal winger has already attracted interest from City s Premier League title rivals Liverpool and Arsenal, but the defending champions entering the race would obviously complicate matters for the latter two.
For their part, Wolves have no intention to sell the 24-year-old, being in a very strong position after he signed a new contract devised to keep him at the Molineux until the summer of 2027. It is believed that it would take an offer upwards of £60 million to tempt them into any kind of talks about it.
Liverpool s pursuit of Neto is apparently complicated further by the fact that they re in the process of getting their club hierarchy in order, not to mention …
Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has told his players ahead of the visit of Everton they cannot afford to drop more points at home if they are to have any chance of finishing in the Premier League s top four.
The champions are unbeaten in the league since Jose Mourinho s sacking last month, but only two of those five matches have been wins, with the other three draws, including Wednesday s feisty contest at home to West Brom, which ended 2-2.
As a consequence Chelsea remain 14th in the table and are 12 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham going into the clash with Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Hiddink has continued to state Champions League qualification is the club s goal as long as it remains mathematically possible, but the interim coach knows his …
Jose Mourinho insists Fernando Torres will not be leaving Chelsea despite the club needing to lose an overseas player.
Premier League rules state that each member clubs 25-man squad must consist of no more than 17 foreign players, but Chelsea have one extra.
It had been thought that Torres, who has struggled to find form at Stamford Bridge since his big-money move from Liverpool in 2011, would be the man to make way particularly after the arrivals of fellow forwards Diego Costa and Didier Drogba.
But Mourinho insisted that is not the case.
Three strikers is fundamental in the squad and we have three, he told Sky Sports News.
Nando [Torres] is one of them. We have a good squad.
The perfect squad would be with this 18 players, not 17, but…
Video Assistant Referees (VAR) will be used from the last 16 of this season s Champions League, UEFA has confirmed.
European football s governing body had already committed to using VAR in its competitions from 2019-20 onwards.
But last month, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and European Club Association chairman Andrea Agnelli revealed there was scope to bring it in earlier.
This move was confirmed at the Nations League Finals draw in Dublin on Monday, with all forthcoming knockout matches in UEFA s flagship club competition to benefit from VAR.
Alongside the Champions League rollout, VAR will also be used in this season s Europa League final – but not, it seems, in the knockout rounds – as well as the Nations League Finals 2019 and next year s Eur…
According to a report form Bild, RB Leipzig are on the verge of offering Timo Werner a big money move to keep him at the club. The 22 year old has less than two years remaining on his current contract and, unsurprisingly, he’s been receiving a great deal of attention from clubs around Europe and beyond. The youngster is an international with Germany and while he hasn’t quite been able to live up to the hype on the big stage just yet, he’s still quite young, and the expectation is that he’ll grow into the role.
Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid are the three primary clubs believed to be in the running to sign Werner, but they likely won’t be able to get their hands on him until at least the summer courtesy of this new deal.
Werner has been with Leipzig s…
Raheem Sterling s form is something that will improve if Chelsea take steps forward as a team, suggests Blues boss Graham Potter.
The England international has struggled for goals since his move from Manchester City to Stamford Bridge ahead of the current campaign, with the winger looking to cement his place in Gareth Southgate s Three Lions plans.
An injury to club and international team-mate Reece James has seen him take on a positional change, playing at wing-back over some recent games in an unfamiliar role.
That has reduced his direct impact in attack, but Potter has suggested the 27-year-old will get back into the swing of things if the players around him also take steps forward.
It s something we have to look at not by zooming into one person but …
